Coaches – At the end of this post, you’ll see the link to our 2021 CNR Summer Basketball League Schedule. However, in between now and the end of this post, there is a lot of important information you need to know.

Rationale Behind Schedule – The goal in CNR is to try and give you competitive games at convenient locations working around your conflicts. Sometimes, we’re able to accomplish all three of these. However, the most important thing we “try” and do is create competitive matchups. We do that based on the rankings you provide us when registering. With the majority of your schedule, you’ll likely play teams within two ranking points of your self-ranking. However, there will be circumstances, similar to what kids will face in high school, where they will face an opponent they could beat or lose to by 25 points.

5pm / 9pm games – We’re naturally going to get people who will complain “why do I have a 9pm game, that’s too late as we are only 6th graders, etc.”. The reality when running a summer weeknight league is there are only so many 6pm, 7pm and 8pm time slots to go around. We tell you this because we don’t want to get the email or schedule change request complaining about a 9pm game. You’ll likely only have one or two of these if you are a younger team. In comparison, there are a small amount of 5pm starts out there. We put them in that slot because the location likely made sense for the teams and we didn’t have any space elsewhere.

The schedules aren’t final yet – For those who have been in the league for years, you’ve heard this 20+ times before. This schedule isn’t final. Don’t print this out, or email it to your parents or put in your Team App and never look at it again. If you do this, you’ll end up no-showing a game or showing up at a place where you shouldn’t be playing. Once the schedule is finalized, which will be once we have addressed all of the schedule change requests, we’ll let all coaches know it is final.

Schedule Change Requests / Confirmation Form – If you put a date as a conflict and we scheduled you on that date, feel free to put in a schedule change request. However, please realize if you put in a request, there’s a chance it could be a situation where you’ll just play and pay for one less game. If we logistically can’t move the game for whatever reason, we may take one of the teams who registered late who need games and fill them in your slot.

Even if you don’t have a schedule change request, we need you to fill out this link as it serves as the confirmation form that you are still in the league and that you know schedules have been released. The reason we do this is we will have teams who register, confirm they are in the league, but after we release the schedule they decide they are no longer playing and don’t inform us. So please take 30 seconds and fill this form out below to confirm you know schedules have been released, will be monitoring your schedule and you are still in the league.

CONFIRMATION FORM

Other league information – We will go into much more detail at the beginning of next week on these items below, but just to give you some quick hitters:

Payment – The cost is $75 per game. We ask payment be turned in by your second game. You’ll have a variety of ways you can pay for the league (Venmo, Cash App, Check, Online, Paying in person). However, please don’t worry about payment yet until we finalize schedules so you know how many you are playing.

Covid Stuff / Masks – As you can imagine, things change rapidly when it involves stuff involving Covid.  The biggest two questions we obviously get are “do players have to wear masks” and “do spectators have to wear masks”? To make this simple, from CNR’s standpoint, we are abiding by what each facility requests.  Early next week, we’ll update our spectator guidelines for each site. However, what I can tell you is this. For probably 98% of the games that will make place, players won’t be required to wear masks. For probably 80% of the games that will take place, spectators won’t be required to wear masks. Obviously, anyone who wants to wear a mask can wear a mask. Again, early next week we will have a breakdown of what each specific site is requiring. However, you can pass along to your parents that for nearly all of our games, players won’t have to wear masks, which is the biggest issue out there.
